Sound massage is based on ancient knowledge relating to the effect of sounds. This knowledge was applied in Indian healing therapy as long as 5000 years ago. According to Eastern ideas human was created out of sound, i.e. he is sound. If a human being is “in tune” with himself and his environment, then he or she is able to arrange his/her life freely and creatively.
Vibration is known to have an analgesic effect and is often used in the treatment of chronic pain. Studies suggest that vibration might interfere with the transmission of pain signals from various parts of the body to the central nervous system.

Facts about Singing Bowls

Singing bowls are at home in the Eastern cultures of Japan, China, Thailand, and the Himalaya region. They resemble bells that are struck from the outside and probably go back to the time when man first started to work with metals. The origin of the singing bowls for the most part still remains a mystery. Even their function has not been fully determined. The literature discusses their use as a resonance body or sacrificial bowl in ritual applications but also their use as crockery. According to one tradition, the bowl should contain seven metals, one for each planet. The combination of metals determines the quality of vibration and the sound of a bowl. Bowls that were produced according to old craftsmanship more than fifty years ago usually have a particularly good sound. Today, because of the increased demand, there are only a few antique singing bowls of good quality. Often new bowls can be found, that neither corresponds to the old metal alloy nor are fabricated in the traditional way. Since 1990 Peter Hess has been trying to track down the knowledge covering the traditional composition and fabrication of singing bowls. After a few failures, he succeeded in early 1997 to revive the traditional fabrication of singing bowls in the old composition of 12 metals. These new singing bowls with the Peter Hess products® seal of quality, that are produced according to ancient tradition, guarantee constant quality throughout.

What is a “sound massage” with singing bowls

Since the early eighties, the German engineering graduate (FH) in Physical Technology Peter Hess, has been looking more and more into the effect that sound has on people. Based on his manifold experience with sound, particularly in Nepal and Tibet, he started to work with singing bowls. Investigations and experiments on the effect of traditional music on the human mind and body form the basis for the sound massage. In the course of many years of practice, Peter Hess has adapted this knowledge to people in Western cultures.
The result of this work is Peter HessSound Massage. Sound massage with singing bowls is a sound therapy where singing bowls are placed on the dressed body or into the health aura and tapped gently with a felt mallet. The calming harmonizing sounds, as well as the gentle vibrations of the singing bowls, induce a feeling of well-being and a very effective deep relaxation (“sound-based relaxation”).
With people in good health, sound massage will support the development of their inner harmony and provide them with energy and strength for their daily tasks.
Creativity and productive energy will receive new impulses.
With physical, mental, and psychological issues, sound massage will help to bring relief from pain and problems that cause daily stress, worries, and anxiety.
